Why Grow Buckeye Belle?
Buckeye Belle brings a depth of red that reads almost chocolate in morning light, set off by bright gold centers. It is an early bloomer, a strong and tidy grower, and the blooms are outstanding cut flowers. Gardeners who plant one usually come back for more.
The large flowers are held on sturdy stems and make beautiful additions to spring gardens and fresh-cut flower arrangements. Once established, peonies are remarkably long-lived and can return year after year for decades with proper care.
🌱 Planting Your Bare Root Peony
For best results, plant your peony root in the fall in a location receiving at least 6 hours of sunlight per day.
Plant with the eyes (buds) facing upward and approximately 1-2 inches below the soil surface. Avoid planting too deeply, as this can reduce flowering.
Choose fertile, well-draining soil and water thoroughly after planting. Peonies benefit from the cool fall and winter months to establish their root systems before spring growth begins.
Please note: Peonies are long-lived perennials and may take time to become fully established. Newly planted roots may produce limited growth or flowering during their first season. Plants typically become larger and more floriferous as they mature.
